libarpack2-dev software package provides Fortran77 subroutines to solve large scale eigenvalue problems (development), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libarpack2-dev
libarpack2-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libarpack2-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libarpack2-dev *
You will get with libarpack2-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
